fatima LAFatima is the Executive Chef and Owner of Bistro 161 in Duncan.  Her food is adventurous and exciting and reflects her colourful Indian, Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese and Spanish family roots.

Born and raised in Mozambique, Fatima inherited her passion for cooking from her mother who catered for busy couples wanting homemade meals.

Fatima started cooking professionally with Michael Forte of the French Connection in the early 90s.   
In the summer of 2000, she accepted an executive chef position at Vinoteca Restaurant, at Zanatta vineyard.

Although she enjoyed her time at Vinoteca, she decided in 2005 to create something all her own and opened Bistro 161.   She’s never looked back!  For Fatima Bistro 161 continues to be an intense labour of love and a never ending evolution.
